The Assistant Program Manager for Rotating Machinery Dynamics at Southwest Research Institute plays a crucial role in applied engineering research and development (R&D) for power systems. Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering and technician staff in business development and project execution activities.
  • Foresee market needs and assist management in creating facilities and skillsets to meet future market trends.
  • Assist clients in finding symbiotic opportunities to leverage technologies in various markets.
  • Prepare technical publications and presentations for business development purposes.
  • Interface with technical clients to coordinate project scope and develop proposals.
  • Manage project requirements, schedules, and labor plans.
  • Utilize project controls including earned value, schedule, risk/opportunity analysis, and effective task delegation to manage progress.
  • Coordinate project team activities and contribute to technical project tasks such as thermodynamic modeling and data analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience with power system design, analysis, and testing, including knowledge of thermal/fluid systems and turbomachinery.
  • 5+ years of experience with energy system analysis and development across clean energy technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience with industry-accepted standards for design, analysis, commissioning, and testing.
  • 5+ years of project management experience, with personnel management and business development experience preferred.
  • Good organizational and communication skills, including verbal and technical writing.
  • A valid/clear driver's license.
