About the position

The Assistant Program Manager at Turning Point, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries in a residential setting. This position involves assisting the Program Manager in ensuring the safety, rights, and well-being of residents while implementing Individual Service Plans (ISP) and overseeing daily activities. The role requires leadership, compassion, and a commitment to maintaining a supportive environment for both residents and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Manager in maintaining a safe environment and ensuring the Human Rights and Safety of individuals in a residential setting.
  • Ensure all program staff follow agency and program philosophy, ISP goals, objectives, and Case Management responsibilities.
  • Assist and supervise individuals with daily living activities including hygiene, household chores, cooking, shopping, and community activities.
  • Help plan menus to ensure dietary needs are met and assist with food shopping.
  • Assist individuals with transportation to medical, dental, and psychiatric appointments as assigned.
  • Follow behavior plans and maintain required data collection.
  • Role model required behavior plans and interventions for staff and individuals.
  • Complete all documentation in a timely manner, including communication logs and incident reports.
  • Help program staff follow operational policies and procedures as directed by the Program Manager.
  • Assist in interviewing new candidates and participate in performance meetings.
  • Train and orient new program staff on policies and procedures.
  • Engage positively with individuals, families, and other staff members.
  • Attend monthly team meetings and trainings as directed.
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification, as well as MAP and PABC certifications.
  • Ensure financial responsibilities are met, including counting money and managing residents' financial needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D required; Associate's Degree or pursuing degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of direct support residential experience or closely related experience with developmentally disabled individuals or individuals with traumatic brain injury.
  • Working knowledge of behavior plans for developmentally disabled individuals or individuals with traumatic brain injury.
  • Prior staff training and/or leadership experience is desirable.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, MAP, Human Rights Advocate, and PABC certifications required.
  • Pass a CORI, Driving Record, and Fingerprinting checks prior to beginning work.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements such as standing, walking, lifting, turning, and squatting.
  • Ability to drive a 4-6 passenger van to transport residents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leadership roles within a residential support setting.
  • Additional certifications related to behavioral support or developmental disabilities.
