About the position

The Assistant Project Manager (APM)/Project Manager (PM) position is a full-time role within an innovative engineering and construction firm. The APM/PM will work closely with Project Managers and the Project Executive to ensure the successful execution of construction projects, maintaining quality and safety standards while adhering to budget constraints. This role involves significant fieldwork, requiring travel for extended periods, and demands strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and tracking project submittals and maintaining subcontractor performance.
  • Verifying compliance with plans and specifications, and attending job site meetings.
  • Developing schedule plans and progress strategies for each project with team members.
  • Training newly hired Field Engineers and supporting quality control analysis.
  • Coordinating with inspectors to ensure construction meets specified standards.
  • Preparing scope and contracts, obtaining permits, and reviewing project schedules.
  • Estimating quantities and costs of materials, equipment, or labor for project feasibility.
  • Complying with safety procedures and addressing non-compliance issues.
  • Coordinating subcontractors on site and documenting time and material operations.
  • Generating and submitting daily construction reports and taking site walks to communicate with Foreman and Superintendents.
  • Establishing professional relationships with clients and field inspectors.
  • Assisting in the buyout process and negotiating costs, quality, and delivery.
  • Producing complete purchase orders after conditions are approved by the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of field experience in construction management.
  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Self-directed, organized, and self-motivated to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and able to interpret blueprints/drawings.
  • Working knowledge of estimating, engineering, cost tracking systems, and site surveying.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a desire to learn and progress within the organization.
  • Valid driver's license and means of transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
