About the position

Southland Holdings is currently accepting resumes for highly motivated civil construction professionals to join our team as an Assistant Project Manager in the Green Cove Springs, FL area. We are seeking talented, sharp-minded Civil Engineers and Construction Managers with solid construction experience to help staff upcoming projects, particularly in civil infrastructure including FDOT/Roadway/Bridge projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor and update integrated project plans and schedules to execute projects efficiently
  • Prepare baseline scheduling and schedule basis documents for approval by project teams
  • Assess impacts to critical path and near-critical activities and report to project team
  • Monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in developing alternate methods for corrective action
  • Prepare and provide schedule progress reports, trending charts, and schedule analysis periodically
  • Ensure credibility of the information contained in the schedule
  • Review schedules with project team members regularly to ensure accurate timely data is incorporated
  • Verify schedule integrity and evaluate logic and float paths
  • Evaluate activity sequences for constructability
  • Analyze change orders for schedule impacts
  • Resource load schedules as required by the project team
  • Perform job-site walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities
  • Manage project submittals, RFI's, drafting subcontracts, purchase orders, and negotiating contract pricing to stay under budget
  • Utilize Microsoft Project or Primavera for scheduling
  • Conduct budgeting and cost projections
  • Handle large amounts of word processing, letters/correspondence to owners and engineers
  • Attend progress meetings
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Communicate verbally and electronically in a professional manner with owners and engineers
  • Work in the office and spend time in the field to understand construction processes
  • Manage and schedule deliveries from suppliers
  • Schedule and coordinate subcontractors
  • Keep daily installation quantity records
  • Record daily start and stop station for record drawings
  • Track equipment hours
  • Meet with subcontractors and suppliers on site
  • Attend necessary field meetings and take progress photos

Requirements

  • Construction/related degree with 6+ years of construction scheduling experience
  • Excellent computer skills and analytical ability
  • Experience working with Primavera P6
  • Understanding of industrial construction processes
  • Ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings
  • Knowledge of contract procedures and principles
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment
  • Ability to understand construction logic and sequencing of complex projects

Nice-to-haves

  • P.E. license preferred but not required
