About the position

The Assistant Project Manager/Project Engineer at PCE Construction plays a crucial role in supporting project managers on various commercial construction projects. This position involves coordinating with vendors, managing schedules, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will be organized, adaptable, and capable of working independently while maintaining a focus on client needs and project documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with all PCE team members to maximize productivity.
  • Help organize and monitor schedules and assist PMs with meeting deadlines.
  • Provide project updates verbally and in written form.
  • Help coordinate and effectively allocate resources as directed.
  • Demonstrate commitment to clients' needs and confidentiality.
  • Help to maintain project specific documentation: drawings, Sub-contracts, COs, CCOs, RFQs, RFIs, ASI, ESIs, and O/Ms.
  • Ability to review vendor/sub-contractor submittals and shop drawings for accuracy.
  • Effectively communicate with architects, engineers, and clients.
  • Measure and quantify materials for estimation.
  • Help with estimation of costs for projects.
  • Complete site visits to check progress and provide written documentation to necessary parties.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Associate's degree required, and working towards a bachelor's degree in a relevant field highly recommended.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in the construction industry.
  • BIM and or CAD experience a plus.
  • Total station proficiency preferred, or ability to layout building footprints, partitions, etc.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Able to proactively identify and address potential conflicts.
  • Ability to read and interpret commercial blueprints.
  • Excellent computer/device skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with construction-specific software platforms such as Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Pipeline, and Sage 300 highly preferred.
