About the position

The Assistant Project Manager at TMG Construction is responsible for managing the entire life-cycle of small commercial and institutional design/build projects or supporting larger projects. This role requires a solid understanding of process management and the ability to work with various delivery methods, including IDIQ, Lump-Sum Contracting, and Design/Build contracts. The Assistant Project Manager will oversee project controls, analyze reports, manage change processes, and ensure compliance with contract terms and legal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update and maintain project controls tracking the status of individual projects or task orders.
  • Analyze reports to create priorities that prevent delays to critical activities within the project.
  • Work with subject matter experts to create, review and process shop drawings and other submittals.
  • Manage or support the change management process, including updating logs and writing change orders.
  • Perform quantity surveys for the estimating process using various software tools.
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain project schedules using contemporary scheduling software.
  • Support the physical layout and develop control line drawings using CADD.
  • Negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Produce reports utilizing TMG and client-specific workflow software.
  • Identify issues proactively and facilitate solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all contract terms and legal requirements.
  • Assist in project closeout activities to ensure timely completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management or 5 years of related experience without a degree.
  • 2-3 years of experience with a commercial and/or industrial general contractor.
  • Demonstrated experience estimating and managing self-performed and subcontracted work.
  • Basic to good understanding of construction means and methods for renovation projects.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and construction industry software.
  • Current safety credentials: OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Professional credentials: Engineer in Training (EIT) or Associate Constructor (AC) in good standing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Prolog and other project management software.
  • Knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical, or electrical disciplines.
