About the position

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) at Cable Communication Services will support the Project Manager in various project tasks, ensuring deliverables are met and assisting in the management of multiple projects concurrently. This role involves collaboration with various operational support groups and requires travel to project sites across several states. The APM will play a crucial role in project scheduling, safety management, procurement, and project close-out processes, while also adhering to company standards and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist PM in the development of the initial project schedule in conjunction with engineering, estimating, project controls, procurement, and construction management personnel.
  • Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews.
  • Work with procurement to develop subcontractor and vendor scopes of work and schedules exhibits to the contracts for review by PM before processing.
  • Collaborate with the Health and Safety Manager on all safety-related issues, including development and implementation of the project-specific safety plan.
  • Assist the PM with project schedule and help prepare monthly project review reports for the project management team and Senior Management.
  • Provide feedback to improve the quality of all technical, commercial, and administrative deliverables for projects.
  • Assist in procurement of purchase orders and subcontract packages.
  • Monitor progress of overall design, procurement, and construction of the project.
  • Facilitate Project Close-Out and Warranty administration.
  • Perform post-construction cost review and reporting and participate in lessons learned.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the PM, including acting as PM when PM is unavailable (when deemed qualified by PM/Operations Director).
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Control field documents and create daily reports.
  • Take progress photographs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Science/Management, Engineering, or equivalent field; equivalent work experience may be substituted.
  • Experience on DB/EPC projects in the power delivery industry; thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in transmission, distribution, and substation work.
  • Proficient in handling multiple projects and ensuring compliance with laws and requirements.
  • Proficient knowledge of project management systems.
  • Familiar with technology and proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Office and other software).
  • Management and supervision skills.
  • High sense of integrity - job requires being honest and ethical.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid, Active Driver's License.
