About the position

The Assistant Project Manager at Western Building Group will support Project Managers in overseeing construction projects from start to finish. This role involves managing project documentation, facilitating communication between teams, and ensuring that all project requirements are met efficiently. The ideal candidate will be motivated, detail-oriented, and possess a strong understanding of construction processes, particularly in sheet metal and roofing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in facilitating successful project execution from start to finish.
  • Participate in turnover meetings and manage project submittals.
  • Review all project shop drawings and perform material takeoffs.
  • Gather vendor/supplier quotes and review procurement with the Project Manager.
  • Submit purchase orders and track requests for information (RFIs) and architectural supplemental instructions (ASIs).
  • Produce initial bend orders and track subsequent orders from field personnel.
  • Conduct field verification using scanning equipment and process scan data for fabrication design.
  • Assist in billing processes by tracking material deliveries and documenting stored materials.
  • Arrange all closeout documentation, including warranties and archiving project documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Familiarity with sheet metal, roofing, and ACM materials and their installation and fabrication.
  • Dependable and committed to a full-time, in-person schedule, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
  • Basic familiarity with Excel and other Office software.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Onscreen software.
  • Ability to calculate figures, amounts, percentages, and basic geometry and algebra skills.
  • Ability to develop a tracking system for project requirements.
