About the position

The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in finance-related tasks, particularly in labor and material cost control. This role involves assisting in the planning, management, and completion of construction projects while ensuring client satisfaction and financial success.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in coordinating all contractual requirements, design drawings, and project specifications.
  • On-Site Project Management.
  • Project Monthly Report Generation.
  • Project Coordination & Project Controls.
  • Change Orders management.
  • Construction Billings & Cash Flow Projects oversight.
  • Application for Payment Verification.
  • Cost tracking for sequential costing.
  • Contract Administration support.
  • Job Cost Analysis execution.
  • Punch-List Management oversight.
  • Project Schedule Adherence monitoring.
  • Warranty Review & Procurement assistance.
  • Conduct Weekly OAC Meetings and document Meeting Minutes.
  • Evaluate and solve potential field problems, referring them to the Project Manager.
  • Perform project accounting functions and proficiently use Procore financial tools and reports.
  • Assist in plan and spec analysis for clear interpretations of design/drawings for construction.
  • Conduct quality control activities as per instructions and inspection programs.
  • Provide technical engineering information to ensure compliance with standards and codes.
  • Attend project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as required.
  • Research and recommend solutions to design document problems.

Requirements

  • Completion of Vocational School a plus, college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience or equivalent role in commercial, multi-purpose building construction preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, MS Project, and Excel.
  • Proficient in understanding building plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of Value Engineering and life cycle costing.
  • Ability to work as a team player with field supervision and project management staff.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and enforcement.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under time pressure situations.
  • Self-starter with strong leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, MS Project, and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints and safety rules.
