About The Position

The Assistant Public Works Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing wastewater maintenance and repairs within the City of Houston. Requirements

  • Requires an Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to 3 years duration.
  • Six (6) years of experience closely related to the activities of the branch or division are required.
  • Requires a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in directing and managing Public Works wastewater maintenance and repairs.
  • Develop, maintain, and interpret Branch and Departmental policies.
  • Plan, organize, schedule, direct, and review various wastewater maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate work of the section and collaborate with other Departments, Branches, and outside agencies.
  • Review and critique methods and procedures to maintain and improve operations.
  • Evaluate individual and group performance and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of technology and legislative changes affecting activities.
  • Implement and monitor technical and safety training.
  • Assist in annual fiscal year budget preparation.
  • Oversee Maintenance Crews in the GNEHSA (Kingwood Area) and manage 64 Lift Stations and 5 Treatment Plants.
