About the position

The Assistant Purchasing Manager position offers a unique opportunity to work with one of the nation's top ENR contractors located in Massachusetts. This role is pivotal in supporting the Purchasing Manager in various aspects of procurement, vendor management, contract management, and inventory management. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing procurement strategies, policies, and procedures that align with the company's goals and objectives. In this position, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process for goods and services, which includes sourcing, bidding, negotiating, and contracting with vendors. You will evaluate vendors and subcontractors based on critical factors such as price, quality, delivery, and service to ensure that the company partners with the best suppliers. Timely delivery of goods and services is essential, and you will manage inventory levels to meet project demands effectively. Additionally, you will assist with contract management, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. Collaboration with internal departments is key, as you will work closely with them to understand their needs and requirements. Your support will also extend to the management of construction materials procurement and project management, making this role integral to the success of various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Purchasing Manager in developing procurement strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage the procurement process of goods and services including sourcing, bidding, negotiating, and contracting.
  • Evaluate vendors and subcontractors based on price, quality, delivery, and service.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and services and manage inventory levels.
  • Assist with contract management and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
  • Work closely with internal departments to understand their needs and requirements.
  • Provide support to the Purchasing Manager in the management of construction materials procurement and project management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Procurement, Negotiation, Vendor Evaluation, and Contract Management.
  • Heavy Civil/Structural experience required.
