About the position

The Assistant Research Administrator (ARA) at the School of Public Health will provide essential financial and administrative support for a newly funded P01 grant, as well as assist the department's Research Administrators with pre- and post-award activities for various grants. This role involves managing budgets, financial monitoring, and ensuring compliance with university policies while supporting Principal Investigators and project coordinators in their research endeavors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial and administrative management support for the P01 grant project, including budget review and development.
  • Monitor financial expenses and projections related to the grant.
  • Process travel and expenses for grant-related faculty and staff.
  • Manage sub-award and procurement processes, including invoice management.
  • Assist Principal Investigators and Project Coordinators with annual progress reports.
  • Create and maintain documents outlining procedures and guidelines for financial and operational management of the grant.
  • Support departmental Research Administrators with proposal and post-award documents, ensuring compliance with university policies.
  • Process sub-award disbursements and review/edit biosketches and other support documents.
  • Generate and upload monthly financial expense reports and update faculty grant portfolios.
  • File and track grant proposals submitted and awarded, analyzing and resolving issues as needed.
  • Provide general grant-related support to faculty members and work on special projects as required.
  • Assist the Administrative Director with the semi-annual Personnel Activity Report (PAR) certification process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Previous experience in an academic environment is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, and databases.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with pre/post award grant transaction work.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with grant language, budgets, and timelines.
  • Experience in the Electronic Grants Administration & Management System (EGrAMS).
