About the position

The University of Texas at El Paso is seeking a Research Assistant Professor for a non-tenure track position within the RAISE research cluster, focusing on academic-work integration in STEM education. This role aims to conduct impactful research that addresses the challenges and opportunities of combining education with employment, particularly for students at UTEP and other Hispanic Serving Institutions. The position is designed to enhance research competitiveness and contribute to policy recommendations and interventions for workforce development.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field-defining research on academic-work integration in STEM education.
  • Investigate students' experiences in workplace learning.
  • Integrate labor data into workforce development planning.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance research outcomes.
  • Publish research findings and contribute to policy recommendations.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Higher Education Studies, Workforce Development, Educational Economics, Education Policy, STEM Education, Curriculum Theory, Social or Organizational Psychology, Sociology, Learning Sciences, Data Science, Psychometrics, or related fields by the effective appointment date.
  • Evidence of research productivity related to the center's vision, including publications and collaboration experience.
  • Experience using qualitative and/or quantitative methodological approaches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Competence in advanced quantitative methods.
