About the position

The Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking an Assistant Research Professor of Pediatrics to join the Katzenellenbogen laboratory. This position is part of a vibrant research environment that includes over 200 faculty investigators, staff, and trainees dedicated to addressing critical questions related to childhood illnesses. The center emphasizes collaboration between scientists and physicians to enhance understanding of the causes and mechanisms behind serious pediatric diseases, with the ultimate goal of developing innovative diagnostic and treatment approaches for sick children in Indiana and beyond. The successful candidate will engage in direct laboratory research focused on understanding how high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infections disrupt normal cellular pathways, contributing to cancer development and progression. Responsibilities will include overseeing long-term research projects, conducting laboratory experiments, and participating in the scientific writing of manuscripts and grant proposals. The laboratory's research involves utilizing cell and tissue culture models, cancer cell lines, and patient samples, alongside molecular biology techniques to analyze DNA, RNA, and protein alterations and the mechanisms driving infection-associated oncogenesis. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Doctoral or Terminal Degree in biological sciences or a related field is required.
  • At least 3 years of postdoctoral research experience related to molecular oncology and tumor viruses is preferred.
  • Expertise in gene expression assays, DNA, RNA, and protein work is required.
  • Strong scientific writing skills are essential.
