About the position

The Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) is seeking an Assistant Research Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology for a non-tenure track position within its laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and validating experimental procedures aimed at testing pharmacological agents using in vivo model systems, with a primary focus on cancer and Alzheimer's disease. This role requires conducting high-standard cell, molecular, and biochemical experimental approaches, collaborating closely with the lab head and other team members to design experiments, execute assays, and interpret data. The candidate is expected to establish a strong scientific reputation and credentials as an independent researcher, which includes giving oral presentations to scientific audiences, writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, and assisting in the preparation of grant applications for NIH funding. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Doctorate or terminal degree required (MD, PhD, or MD/PhD in biomedical sciences).
  • 3 or more years of post-doctoral experience.
  • Strong publication record including first author publications.
  • Experience training students on lab procedures, equipment, and safety.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple research projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of animal research models and handling.
  • Advanced computer skills and software application proficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical users.
  • Excellent written communication skills for detailed analytics and reports.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and associated risks.
  • Ability to perform standard and complex laboratory procedures accurately and reliably.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently.
