About the position
The Assistant Research Scientist (ARS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will work within the Center for Prevention Research and Development (CPRD) to evaluate home visiting programs aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes. The role involves preparing and analyzing large datasets, conducting statistical analyses, publishing research findings, applying for grants, and coordinating program activities. The ARS will contribute to evidence-based research and collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance the impact of home visiting initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Create and manipulate large datasets for evaluation designs.
- Implement coding rules and create data dictionaries.
- Use statistical software (e.g., SPSS) for data analysis and reporting.
- Conduct qualitative analysis using NVivo or similar software.
- Develop functions and macros for data cleaning and reporting.
- Recommend and lead statistical analyses based on project needs.
- Perform descriptive and advanced statistical analyses.
- Document research procedures and analyses clearly.
- Translate research data into visual formats for reports.
- Design and maintain data dashboards using Tableau or Power BI.
- Coordinate project activities and timelines.
- Collaborate with funders and university partners on research projects.
Requirements
- PhD in Social Work or two years of Ph.D. coursework in advanced statistical classes.
- Experience with large datasets, particularly in home visiting data.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience submitting associate manuscripts.
- Two years of applied research project experience in home visiting.
- Experience building dashboards in Tableau or Power BI.
- Proficiency in SPSS and NVivo for data analysis.
- Knowledge of SQL and ARC GIS software.
