About the position

The Assistant Research Scientist at Texas A&M AgriLife focuses on conducting research and training related to development, climate change, and public policy, particularly in North Africa. This role involves collaboration with Egyptian scholars, publication of research findings, and the development of educational curricula for visiting scholars.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and training sessions on the nexus of development, climate change, and public policy in North Africa.
  • Collaborate and publish scholarly papers with Egyptian scholars.
  • Submit reports to FHI on scholar progress and activities.
  • Assist and guide visiting Egyptian scholars.
  • Publish and contract research on forms of capital and foreign aid.
  • Develop course and training curriculum for visiting scholars.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • PhD in a related field.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with Muslim scholars on climate change and issues of Africa.
  • Skills in comprehensive program development, implementation, and evaluation addressing various clientele needs leading to clear outcomes and social or economic impact.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the Muslim culture and experience working with Muslim women.
  • Experience with climate change and production data in Africa.
  • Experience teaching climate change from an African perspective.
