About the position

The Assistant Restaurant Manager at The Essex Resort & Spa plays a crucial role in overseeing restaurant operations and staff to ensure high standards of service and efficiency. This position is integral to maintaining a smooth-running operation, enhancing guest experiences, and fostering a positive work environment for the team. The role involves a blend of management responsibilities, including staff training, inventory management, and communication with upper management, all aimed at delivering exceptional dining experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation and staff of the restaurants to maintain high standards and efficiency.
  • Monitor and critique food quality and service levels.
  • Hire and train staff to ensure a skilled team.
  • Forecast and schedule staff according to occupancy levels.
  • Track payroll and revenue daily.
  • Coach and counsel staff to improve performance.
  • Ensure the physical atmosphere and cleanliness of the restaurant.
  • Monitor current inventories and assist in end-of-month inventories.
  • Order new products as needed.
  • Attend department head meetings and pre-con meetings as required.
  • Conduct timely performance evaluations of staff.
  • Maintain restaurant profitability through effective forecasting and staffing.
  • Communicate with the Director of Food and Beverage and other management on events and promotions.
  • Handle guest complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Provide a pleasant and efficient atmosphere for staff and guests.

Requirements

  • Experience in restaurant management or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Proficient in financial tracking and inventory management.
