About the position

The Assistant Sales Manager/Closer is responsible for selling new and used vehicles at dealership standards, focusing on gross profit, volume, and guest satisfaction. This role involves generating business, assisting guests, closing sales, and maintaining customer relationships to encourage repeat business. The position requires a strong understanding of vehicle leasing principles and the ability to negotiate effectively while maintaining high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Generate business through daily traffic and outside sources.
  • Assist guests as they enter the dealership showroom or sales lot.
  • Explain product performance, application, and benefits, and offer test drives to prospects.
  • Assist the sales team with closing sales.
  • Close sales by overcoming objections and negotiating price.
  • Introduce guests to dealership operations, including service and parts departments.
  • Maintain an owner follow-up system to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Maintain a prospect development system.
  • Stay updated on new products, features, and accessories and their benefits to guests.
  • Write complete sales orders and process paperwork, explaining warranties and financing according to dealership policies.
  • Follow up with Finance to ensure all stipulations for finalizing paperwork are complete.
  • Achieve sales and guest satisfaction objectives set by management.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by management.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and a professional appearance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years sales experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of vehicle leasing principles and basic mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to coordinate activities with other employees and read instructions in English.
  • Learn and understand federal, state, and local laws governing retail auto sales.
  • Use good judgment in challenging situations and pay attention to detail.
  • Follow up with guests and employees and communicate professionally.
  • Must have a valid sales and driver's license and maintain a safe driving record.
