About the position

The Assistant Service Center Manager at Dayton Freight is responsible for directing and coordinating all terminal operations and service activities to achieve maximum performance and profit objectives. This role involves managing personnel, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining effective communication with customers and staff in a professional and positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate all terminal operations and service activities to achieve performance and profit objectives.
• Develop methods and procedures for efficient routing and movement of freight.
• Utilize TEAM system for P&D and dock operations to maximize resource capabilities.
• Prepare and compile production and service records to measure conformance to terminal objectives.
• Maintain excellent communication with external and internal customers.
• Recruit, interview, hire, train, evaluate, and develop Service Center personnel.
• Manage schedules, workload, payroll, and performance for all direct reports.
• Inspect terminal facility for safety and cleanliness standards.
• Handle employee complaints and grievances as they arise.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
• Work closely with Transportation Coordinator on transportation schedules.
• Investigate and report accidents, job-related injuries, and employee discrepancies.
• Evaluate all freight claims and analyze revenue statistics.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the LTL/Transportation Industry.
• Experience managing drivers and dock workers.
• Experience managing a sales staff.
• Responsible for developing and following a budget.
• Experience managing a large LTL Service Center.
