About the position

The Assistant Solar Project Manager at Prime Partners Engineering, LLC is responsible for overseeing the implementation of solar energy projects, ensuring efficiency in project management from inception to close-out. This role involves stakeholder management, tracking project milestones, and providing technical assistance to contractors, while also performing design layouts and cost estimations. The position requires a strong understanding of renewable energy systems, particularly solar and battery energy storage systems, and involves managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of client engagement from project inception through development and close-out.
  • Perform various consulting-related duties supporting the development, analysis, engineering design, permitting, financial aspects, and construction associated with renewable energy projects.
  • Manage and perform project analysis and feasibility studies.
  • Develop and manage project timelines and cost estimations.
  • Manage, schedule, and lead project meetings efficiently, completing tasks and recording meeting minutes.
  • Coordinate project site visits with local utilities, installers, technicians, vendors, and subcontractors, monitoring their work for compliance with specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Develop systems to manage safety and quality assurance on site.
  • Manage utility design/engineering phases including construction coordination, equipment testing, and commissioning.
  • Identify opportunities within projects to reduce costs and minimize risk; create processes and procedures and implement system improvements.
  • Assist with company initiatives to formulate strategic RFP approaches and lead in preparing winning proposals within the renewable energy industry.
  • Oversee multiple projects of varying size and complexity, ensuring they are accomplished within prescribed time frames and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes.
  • Provide leadership for project teams by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
  • Cultivate relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Assist with the company's solar initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 2-4 years of project management experience in the solar renewable energy industry and/or related experience.
  • Electrical engineering experience including site layout, interconnect, and collector system design.
  • 2-4 years of utility company experience or equivalent external experience, including advanced degree achievements.
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of engineering planning, design, and construction related to renewable energy generation facilities.
  • Proven working experience in project management and a self-starter.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Experience managing large projects and multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to guide and manage design consultants.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in project management/Business/Engineering.
  • Experience in the Energy Field, specifically Solar, DER renewables, and Energy storage, transmission, substation scopes of work, battery energy storage system design, and microgrids.
  • Experience with Solar Design Software such as helioscope and Single Line Designs.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification.
  • Six or more years of professional engineering experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project.
  • Lean Six Sigma Experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or design software.
