The Assistant State Auditor 1 position at the Washington State Auditor's Office is an entry-level role within the agency's in-training program, designed for individuals with limited audit experience. The role involves conducting audits primarily in local government entities across several counties, promoting accountability and transparency. Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits of local government entities in Benton, Columbia, Franklin, and Walla Walla Counties.
  • Participate in accountability, financial, and federal grant compliance audits.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and mutual respect with audit clients.
  • Engage in on-the-job training and receive feedback on work products to develop auditing skills.
  • Support the agency's mission and values through professional conduct and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three college-level accounting courses, or
  • 4 years of relevant business experience with at least 1 year in accounting/auditing, or
  • Any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
