About the position

The Assistant Store Leader at Ruler Foods is responsible for learning and managing the operations of all store departments while sharing accountability for overall store performance. This role involves overseeing various operational aspects, including human resources, scheduling, security, maintenance, and customer service, while embodying the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The position is integral to enhancing the customer shopping experience and supporting the store manager in achieving sales and operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the operations of all departments and the duties of store management.
  • Share responsibility for store performance in all areas of operation and human resources.
  • Perform scheduling, security, maintenance, safety, sanitation, ordering, administration, and human resource-related duties.
  • Assist the store manager in leading teams in planning, implementing, and executing merchandising and operating initiatives.
  • Manage total store operations in the store manager's absence.
  • Achieve and exceed weekly, period, and annual sales, wage budgets, and profit budgets.
  • Drive sales by working with department managers to maximize sales and profits, reduce shrink, and improve department contributions.
  • Provide timely individual and department performance feedback to department heads and associates.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and enterprise policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience as a department manager, service manager, or equivalent experience.
  • Store manager/district manager or direct manager approval.

Nice-to-haves

  • Retail management experience and knowledge of all aspects of store operations.
  • Staff supervisory experience.
