About the position

As a full-time Assistant Store Manager at Famous Footwear, you will play a crucial role in delivering an exceptional shoe shopping experience for customers. Acting as the store leader in the absence of the Store Manager, you will motivate and develop a team to achieve sales targets while fostering a culture of customer engagement and operational excellence. Your passion for shoes and retail will help create a welcoming environment where customers feel valued and inspired to return.

Responsibilities

• Inspire associates to foster a culture of caring and camaraderie focused on customer relationships and operational excellence.
• Seek out and network with exceptional external talent to elevate the store's sales growth.
• Collaborate with the Store Manager to interview and hire individuals passionate about customer experiences.
• Ensure the store runs smoothly by managing daily operations, including pricing, shipping, and inventory.
• Drive sales and improve results by applying insights and observations in partnership with the Store Manager.
• Support a diverse and inclusive work environment where all associates feel respected and valued.
• Step into the Store Manager's role when they are away, maintaining high standards and compliance with company policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• At least 1 year of sales experience, preferably in retail.
• Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training staff.
• Ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with store associates.
• Strong skills in training, coaching, and developing associates for customer engagement and operational tasks.
• Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making, and financial analysis skills.
• Advanced knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.
• Basic computer skills and ability to work a flexible schedule.
