About the position

The Assistant Store Manager, Operations at Forever 21 plays a crucial role in supporting the Store Manager to ensure exceptional customer service and operational excellence. This position involves managing a team of Sales Associates and Supervisors, driving sales, maintaining store facilities, and ensuring compliance with company standards. The Assistant Manager is expected to embody the company's values and contribute to a positive workplace culture while focusing on customer satisfaction and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in store walkthroughs with Store Manager and district leadership to ensure service quality and operational execution.
  • Educates and provides feedback to store team on customer service and operational standards.
  • Reinforces customer service values by coaching team members.
  • Trains and develops team members through the Company's Customer FIRST training model.
  • Collaborates with Store Manager to create processes that drive sales and profitability.
  • Analyzes data with Store Manager to plan and strategize effectively.
  • Creates short-term and long-term plans to enhance customer and employee experiences.
  • Spends at least 60% of the shift performing Leader on Duty tasks.
  • Communicates regularly with management regarding sales, payroll, and team performance.
  • Ensures compliance with service, merchandising, and operational standards.
  • Manages hiring goals and payroll planning against targets.
  • Assists with talent selection, training, coaching, and retention of store employees.
  • Partners with merchandising leaders to ensure proper execution of markdowns and marketing initiatives.
  • Owns the daily employee schedule and payroll budgeting.
  • Drives top line sales and manages controllable contributions.
  • Addresses performance issues by initiating action plans for team members.
  • Sets the tone for customer satisfaction and market recognition.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • College degree or relevant technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years of retail experience with prior supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong customer service mentality.
  • Proficient in coaching, training, sales generation, and strategic planning.
  • Capable of conducting training workshops to achieve company standards.
  • Ability to attract, recruit, and retain top talent.
  • Skillset to train and develop brand ambassadors.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to move around sales floor and stock rooms, work with cleaning chemicals, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including a minimum of 2 closing shifts per week and 2 full weekends per month.
