About the position

The Assistant Store Manager at Value City Furniture plays a crucial role in the operational success of the store, focusing on people development, expense management, and driving operational excellence. This position is integral to maintaining a high-performing team and ensuring customer satisfaction, while also supporting the Store Manager in various store functions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in hiring, training, and retaining high-quality team members.
  • Support the Store Manager in developing internal talent and attracting external talent.
  • Manage all store functions, including lifting and moving furniture as needed.
  • Coach team members on behaviors that support a world-class selling organization.
  • Manage office and warehouse payroll within budgeted guidelines.
  • Eliminate non-productive deliveries by utilizing best practices.
  • Provide feedback and innovative ideas to the Store Manager for operational improvements.
  • Ensure proper execution of best practices related to the delivery process.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels in customer service and warehouse positions.
  • Partner with the human resources team to ensure compliance with training, development, and legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Proven experience in strategic and organizational development.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proficient in business-related technology systems.
  • Track record of servant leadership and team-oriented mindset.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas simply and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others.
