About the position

The Perishable Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for overseeing all perishable departments, including Bakery, Deli, Meat/Seafood, and Produce. This role requires effective management of daily operations, ensuring compliance with company standards, and maintaining customer satisfaction. The Perishable Manager acts as the primary subject matter expert and is expected to make critical decisions in the absence of the Store Manager, while also planning work schedules and supervising team members.

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers and maintains good customer relations.
  • Manages the perishable inventories by tracking weekly sales reports and ordering products to meet customer requirements and company profit goals.
  • Assumes complete responsibility for all phases of store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Implements processes and procedures to improve service and operational efficiency.
  • Develops and implements merchandising plans to meet sales and profit objectives.
  • Monitors display accuracy and appearance to implement promotions.
  • Ensures compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Forecasts, schedules, and monitors labor to align with store sales and productivity guidelines.
  • Directs and evaluates the training of perishable department team members.
  • Maintains communication with other departments to devise marketing plans that meet financial objectives.
  • Handles cash and accounting responsibilities, ensuring store security.
  • Maintains accurate department records on team member performance and sales plans.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of retail management experience and a degree in business, management, retailing, or related fields preferred.
  • Experience with perishable departmental operations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong orientation to detail and analytical skills.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and decisiveness.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
  • Proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff.
  • Forklift/power jack training and experience.
  • Appropriate food handler's certificate/permit.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Organization and planning skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service and marketing.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
