Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and customer engagement in the store.
  • Establish customer relationships that build loyalty and provide total solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Guide the team to be positive, inclusive, and collaborative.
  • Provide strong leadership in community, customer service, sales, and team development.
  • Ensure the store culture embodies Staples values and commitment to the community.
  • Develop a high-performing team focused on providing an exceptional store experience and consultative selling.
  • Coach, train, and role-play with the team to deliver results.
  • Attain sales and services goals, profit margin, and execution of store operations.
  • Establish business cadence for sales readiness and provide daily direction for merchandising opportunities.
  • Assist with delegating operational tasks in partnership with the General Manager.
  • Share responsibility for total store operations and cost control, acting as the Floor Leader.
  • Champion company initiatives and adapt to changes and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 2+ years managing a sales team in a retail or services industry.
  • Experience managing and coaching a team in a customer-centric, solutions-based environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, planning skills, and adaptability to changing business priorities.
  • Ability to engage with customers and understand their needs.
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Ability to lift/move materials in the 10 - 50 pound range, climb ladders, and stand and walk continuously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using financial metrics to track sales progress to drive profitable sales and margins.
