About the position

The Assistant Store Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Break Time Convenience Store. This position focuses on providing excellent customer service, managing day-to-day store operations, and supervising staff to create a positive work environment. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for maintaining store cleanliness, executing merchandising strategies, and supporting the store manager in achieving sales goals and managing expenses.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers and encouraging the store team to do the same.
• Assist in all aspects of store operations including daily reporting, banking, inventory, bookkeeping, and fuel management.
• Maintain store cleanliness and ensure all equipment/store/property is well maintained.
• Assist in the execution of marketing programs and merchandising activities, including proper pricing and promotions.
• Perform shift supervision in the absence of the manager and control merchandise and cash shortages.
• Promote food service and food safety, and complete company training programs.
• Help train new employees on company policies and procedures.
• Maintain timely and professional communication with customers, vendors, and management.
• Understand store finances and help control shortages and expenses.
• Assist with recruiting, training, coaching, and developing a successful team of associates.

Requirements

• Prior management/leadership experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with adequate transportation to/from bank.
• Flexible availability which may include all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Experience in retail sales preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to move and position products in the cooler and freezer.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations for transactions and reports.
• Willingness to occasionally ascend and descend ladders for inventory handling.
