About the position

The Assistant Store Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts plays a crucial role in supporting the Store Manager in various operational aspects, including sales, customer service, and store management. This position is responsible for leading the store team in delivering exceptional customer service and managing store operations during the Store Manager's absence. The role emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to company policies to ensure a smooth and efficient store environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the store team members in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
  • Supervise customer service levels on the retail showroom and ensure team member execution on customer service programs.
  • Work with the store manager to ensure adequate staffing during peak retail business hours.
  • Assist the store manager in setting team member goals and providing feedback on goal achievement.
  • Participate in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks and evaluating candidates.
  • Ensure timely processing of buy online/ship to store and other orders, and communicate with customers upon shipment arrivals.
  • Utilize electronic purchase order ledger for efficient handling of special orders and outside purchases.
  • Process retail customer returns and exchanges efficiently and accurately.
  • Ensure all merchandise is invoiced before leaving the store and that team members comply with company policies.
  • Perform store opening/closing duties and secure the store according to company policy.
  • Assist in maintaining the store building and equipment.

Requirements

  • Sales Specialist Training
  • Assistant Manager Certification
  • RSS Certification

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Parts Professional Certification
  • ASE Certification
  • Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
