About the position

The Assistant Store Manager at Journeys plays a crucial role in supporting the Store Manager and Manager In Training in various operational aspects of the store. This position focuses on recruiting, hiring, training, and managing store personnel to achieve sales goals while ensuring a positive customer experience. The role emphasizes leadership, team development, and adherence to company policies, all within a vibrant retail environment that caters to the teen demographic.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruiting and hiring high caliber employees based on in-store needs.
  • Train and develop a successful sales team.
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and accountability to all employees by enforcing company policies and practices.
  • Ensure that all company initiatives are properly implemented and meet company standards.
  • Recognize talented staff and develop them for growth within the company.
  • Supervise and manage daily store operations in the absence of the Store Manager and Manager In Training.
  • Supervise and manage all aspects of Loss Prevention practices in the absence of the Store Manager and Manager In Training.
  • Effectively communicate all store needs to the Store Manager and Manager In Training.
  • Resolve customer issues effectively and provide a fun, full-service experience to all customers.
  • Complete bank deposits and understand the Journeys culture to demonstrate it to the team.

Requirements

  • Prior retail management experience preferred.
  • 6-12 months retail sales experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Desire to succeed in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Willingness to learn and complete all training programs leading to Co-Manager position or equivalent training.
  • Ability to work 45 hours per week, including night and weekend shifts.
  • Ability to climb, reach, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
