About the position

The Assistant Store Manager at Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona is responsible for leading daily operations at a retail store location. This role focuses on achieving operational goals, managing store performance, and ensuring excellent customer service while supporting the mission of ending unemployment. The Assistant Store Manager will oversee team members, manage inventory, and maintain store standards, acting as a key holder and backup to the Store Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the sales floor at the retail store.
• Develop and execute retail operations plans to achieve financial goals.
• Monitor product levels and manage payroll and operating costs to budget.
• Ensure excellent customer service is delivered by team members.
• De-escalate customer situations and find appropriate solutions.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store to reflect the Goodwill brand.
• Partner with community businesses to promote the Goodwill mission.
• Train and develop store team members, ensuring they fulfill their responsibilities.
• Process complex sales transactions, including customer returns.
• Collaborate with support areas to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Build and manage a high-performing team, including performance management and staffing.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• One year of work experience in Retail Management required.
• One year of customer service experience required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable.
• Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
