About the position

The Assistant Supervisor of Maintenance is responsible for assisting in the overall maintenance of school facilities within the Hingham Public School District. This role involves developing and implementing long-range facility plans, conducting operations reviews, and ensuring compliance with safety codes and regulations. The position requires collaboration with various departments to maintain and repair school buildings and grounds, as well as managing capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing long-range facility plans and capital project planning.
  • Monitor the development and implementation of ongoing maintenance.
  • Conduct operations reviews and inspections of facilities for compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other construction specialists.
  • Assist with selecting subcontractors and coordinating their activities.
  • Respond to work delays, emergencies, and other problems.
  • Ensure contractors comply with legal requirements and safety codes.
  • Provide feedback to the Director regarding project needs and deficiencies.
  • Support the development of project presentations and background materials.
  • Obtain necessary authorizations for job approvals and invoice processing.
  • Facilitate project meetings with stakeholders and provide routine updates.
  • Ensure proper close-out of all projects, including final punch lists and documentation.
  • Issue and prioritize daily work orders and weekly building maintenance.

Requirements

  • Five years of school building/facilities construction management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, civil or structural engineering, business administration, property/construction management, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and controls.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in custodial, maintenance services, or building operations.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Class D Operator's License with a good driving record.
  • Ability to obtain Asbestos and Applicator Core Certificate within six months of hire.
