About the position

The Goddard School of Chesapeake is seeking a qualified Assistant Teacher for all ages to support the healthy development of children and foster lifelong learning. This role involves implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and creating a nurturing environment that encourages exploration and play, in line with the school's educational philosophy based on Piaget's principles.

Responsibilities

• Implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans individualized for children.
• Creating a fun classroom environment that supports play, exploration, and learning.
• Presenting age-appropriate expectations for children.
• Planning and implementing activities that develop self-esteem and social skills.
• Establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment.
• Advancing students' physical and intellectual competence.
• Supporting social and emotional development with positive guidance and reinforcement.
• Establishing positive relationships with families.
• Ensuring a well-run program responsive to participant needs based on Goddard's standards.
• Maintaining professionalism with students, families, peers, and management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Child Development Associate Certification or currently enrolled in college courses in a related field.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Prior classroom experience (Infant, Toddler, Preschool, Kindergarten) preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
• Strong written and communication skills.
