About the position

The Assistant Teacher at Capital Area Community Services (CACS) plays a crucial role in supporting the classroom teacher by implementing individualized education plans and facilitating classroom activities. This position focuses on fostering the social, emotional, intellectual, language, and physical development of children in a nurturing environment. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for maintaining confidentiality and accurate records of each child's progress while ensuring a safe and engaging learning atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher in planning and executing individualized education plans and classroom activities.
  • Maintain a warm and nurturing classroom environment that is developmentally appropriate for children.
  • Communicate regularly with the supervisor regarding classroom activities, child's status, and supply needs.
  • Collaborate with the Family Advocate to ensure full classroom enrollment and consistent attendance.
  • Work as part of a team with other teachers and support staff to achieve educational goals.
  • Assist in planning and executing parent and family events, encouraging family participation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with child development coursework leading to CDA certification.
  • CDA certification required within two years of employment as an Assistant Teacher.
  • Minimum of one year of related experience in a childcare setting.
