About the position

The University of Colorado Boulder is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor in Critical Media Practices, specifically in documentary Media Arts Practices. This role aims to enhance the documentary program through interdisciplinary pedagogy and creative practices. The successful candidate will teach various aspects of documentary media arts, including conceptual, theoretical, historical, and production elements, while contributing to a diverse and inclusive academic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach documentary media arts practices with a focus on interdisciplinary approaches.
  • Provide a 3/3 teaching load and engage in service to the department.
  • Possibly maintain a research/creative work agenda related to documentary practices.

Requirements

  • A terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in documentary production or a related field.
  • Experience teaching and advising students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate documentary experience into innovative approaches to the documentary form.

Nice-to-haves

  • Record of accomplishment in documentary media, demonstrated by screenings and exhibitions.
  • Strong commitment to the goals and vision of the Documentary Media Practices concentration.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate students.
