About the position

The Assistant Teaching Professor of Urban Planning at Ball State University is primarily responsible for teaching first-year studio classes within the Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning. This role involves engaging students in a shared curriculum that emphasizes design fundamentals and various environmental design disciplines. The position requires in-person instruction and collaboration with faculty from Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Architecture, focusing on developing students' skills in design thinking, composition, and urban systems.

Responsibilities

  • Teach first-year studio classes (CAP 101, CAP 102) and a graphics course (CAP 161) in person.
  • Collaborate with faculty members from Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Architecture.
  • Utilize an archive of projects, resources, and instructional materials to facilitate studio instruction.
  • Guide students in developing skills in design fundamentals, 2D & 3D composition, and urban systems.
  • Teach additional classes in urban planning as needed.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, or a related field from an accredited college or university by the date of appointment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience teaching in a studio environment.
