About the position

The Assistant Team Leader (Weld Kitting) for the 2nd shift at The Raymond Corporation plays a crucial role in a Toyota Production System (TPS) environment. This position involves coaching, mentoring, and providing leadership to employees while facilitating on-the-job training. The Assistant Team Leader will also perform production line duties, handle complex issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. The role emphasizes continuous improvement and effective communication with management and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches and mentors employees in the functional area of responsibility.
  • Facilitates on-the-job training for employees.
  • Sets an example for safety and fosters a safe work environment.
  • Participates in Risk Assessment, 5S, and STOP programs.
  • Monitors processes to ensure quality checks are carried out and develops countermeasures against defects.
  • Provides feedback regarding work processes, procedures, and assignments.
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement (kaizen) and implements approved recommendations.
  • Leads TPS driven processes and activities.
  • Assists in Jishuken activities.
  • Assigns, monitors, and observes daily work assignments to ensure standards are met.
  • Interacts with Supervisor and/or Manager to coordinate efforts and communicate effectively.
  • Reports daily results and provides input to employees' performance.
  • Uses problem-solving techniques to address internal issues.
  • Monitors employees' morale and communicates with management to ensure positive morale.
  • Facilitates training to ensure employees are well trained for their jobs.
  • Provides cross-training to employees for flexibility in work assignments.
  • Monitors and arranges for preventive maintenance of machines and equipment.
  • Performs similar duties as line employees as needed.
  • Acts as lead and may participate in the interview process for new hires.

Requirements

  • An Associate's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience working in the functional area of responsibility is required.
  • Successful completion of the company's ATL curriculum program in the first year of being in the position is required.
