About the position
The Assistant Tech Support Specialist is an entry-level IT position at Temple University, primarily focused on providing logistical and technical support for the Computer Recycling Center. The role involves assisting in the refurbishment operations, inventory management, and support of computer hardware for resale. The specialist will also be trained to repair out-of-warranty client hardware and manage equipment logistics across the university. This position emphasizes outstanding customer service and requires on-site work during regular business hours.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality logistical and technical support to university constituents electronically, by phone, or in person.
- Assist in managing refurbishment operations and inventory management for the Computer Recycling Center.
- Support daily operations related to scheduling and executing equipment pickups and deliveries.
- Assist in asset management of surplus electronics across the university.
- Build success for the business through outstanding customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of technical experience in a related field.
- Experience with PC and Mac system configuration, troubleshooting, break/fix, and software installation.
- An associate degree or equivalent qualification, and/or CompTIA A+ certification or Cisco IT Essentials certification is a plus.
- Proven customer service skills, both in-person and via telephone.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with mobile technology, especially Android and iOS.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Familiarity with computer operating systems and imaging.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of higher education environments and applications such as Canvas, Banner, O365, or Adobe Creative Suite.
