About the position

Par Pacific Holdings is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Pipeline Technician-A to join our dynamic mainland logistics division. In this role, you will report directly to the Area Manager and be a key member of our pipeline team, playing a critical role in the operation, maintenance, and repair of pipelines, stations, and associated equipment. Your responsibilities will include maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing pipeline equipment, as well as associated computer programming and electrical or electronic control systems. You will monitor control systems for indications of system errors or failures, including leak detection or pressure fluctuations, and perform damage prevention activities, line locating patrol follow-ups, and third-party oversight. Additionally, you will conduct periodic inspections and routine maintenance on the pipeline system, perform remote metering and other remote facility operations, and utilize computer applications and specialized programs to test pipeline system functions while maintaining accurate records. Monitoring and maintaining cathodic protection on the pipeline system will also be part of your duties, along with conducting required site inspections for safety and general maintenance assessments. You will be responsible for tank gauging, product sampling, valve inspections, and maintenance, as well as performing assigned preventive maintenance tasks and responding to maintenance work orders. As part of your role, you will troubleshoot and repair equipment components as necessary, schedule and perform required pipeline pigging, and witness pipeline and meter proving. Communication with pipeline controllers will be essential to maintain efficient and safe operations on the pipeline system. You will also assist with inventory control, shippers, and customers, perform project oversight and inspection, and complete job books as necessary. It is crucial to maintain operator qualification for all covered tasks necessary to perform job duties and to have a working knowledge of regulatory compliance, ensuring compliance in all job duties. You will be required to carry a cell phone and be on call after hours, with a personal cell phone allowance available per policy. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
  • Eligibility to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in pipeline operations or equivalent experience.
