About the position

We are a boutique interior design firm located in Los Angeles, specializing in high-end residential spaces. We are currently seeking an Assistant to a Designer who is not only passionate and creative but also extremely organized and driven. This position is ideal for someone looking to gain valuable experience and grow their career in the interior design industry. The firm has several exciting new projects lined up, and we need to expand our team as soon as possible. The role is part-time, requiring approximately 15 to 20 hours of work per week, with flexibility in scheduling. The pay for this position ranges from $25 to $35 per hour, depending on experience. As an Assistant to the Designer, you will be involved in various tasks that are crucial to the success of our projects. Your responsibilities will include opening job sites for contractors and vendors, which may require early mornings and occasional weekend work. You will assist with site measurements, prepare mood boards and design boards for client presentations, and take notes during client meetings to ensure follow-up on action items. Additionally, you will be responsible for placing orders, requesting quotes, and tracking furniture orders for multiple projects. Running general project errands, inspecting incoming orders, and assisting on install days and photoshoots will also be part of your duties. This role requires a proactive individual who can handle personal errands for the designer as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Open up job sites for contractor & vendors, which may require early mornings and occasional weekends.
  • Assist with site measurements.
  • Prepare mood boards, design boards, and deliverables for client presentations.
  • Take notes during client meetings for follow-up action items.
  • Place orders, request quotes, and lead times with vendors, fabricators, & showrooms.
  • Expedite and track furniture orders for multiple projects.
  • Run general project errands.
  • Inspect incoming orders and organize and return products/samples.
  • Assist on install days and photoshoots.
  • Help out with the occasional personal errand.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a design-related industry.
  • Must own a reliable computer & printer.
  • Strong organization & communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of trade resources and vendors is a plus.
  • Reliable car and valid driver's license with willingness to travel to job sites & vendors.
