About the position

The Assistant to the Director of College Development at Nassau Community College plays a crucial role in supporting the College's development efforts. This position focuses on enhancing student access and enrollment through ethical practices and collaboration with various stakeholders. The successful candidate will manage the Student Scholarship Program, promote fundraising activities, and build relationships with donors to achieve revenue goals while fostering a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the College's Development efforts using ethical standards.
  • Manage all aspects of the Student Scholarship Program for Nassau Community College students.
  • Increase the flow of funds for the scholarship program and ensure continued growth.
  • Build awareness and work with donors to promote the scholarship program and revenue goals.
  • Support fundraising activities to expand and diversify the organization's funding base.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with alumni, private, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Provide training on the online scholarship system to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Manage social media and online campaigns related to scholarships.
  • Assist in designing and implementing key external alliances for philanthropic support.
  • Support special events and marketing materials as assigned.
  • Serve on committees as appointed.
  • Collaborate within a diverse college community.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Marketing or related field.
  • Experience with current management systems and programs used in higher education.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Familiarity with the mission, goals, and objectives of the College.
  • Knowledge of systems used in Higher Education Development, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skills in identifying problems, analyzing data, and making recommendations.
  • Ability to acquire, allocate, and manage resources effectively.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and energy.
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships with various constituencies.
  • Ability to manage and adapt to change.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area.
  • Three (3) years of experience in fundraising for a Not-for-Profit organization.
  • Three (3) years of experience in project management and/or administration.
