About the position

The Assistant Underwriter will support the Renewable Energy Core Property Insurance team by conducting risk assessments, managing submissions, and providing administrative support throughout the policy lifecycle. This role involves evaluating applications for renewable energy property insurance, assisting Senior Underwriters with pricing and approvals, and improving processes to enhance efficiency in a fast-growing insurtech company.

Responsibilities

• Support the Renewable Energy Core Property Insurance team through risk assessment and submission triage.
• Evaluate applications for renewable energy property insurance.
• Assist Senior Underwriters with pricing, approvals, and policy administration.
• Manage new business, renewals, and endorsements.
• Interact cross-functionally with senior management, business development, and data scientists.
• Record policy risk characteristics and manage portfolios of projects.
• Gather data and prepare documents to support the business.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of underwriting experience in P&C insurance or as an underwriting support role.
• Familiarity with all risk insurance coverage.
• Experience with natural catastrophe underwriting and Nat Cat modeling is a plus.
• Strong critical thinking skills to synthesize large volumes of information and develop proposals.
• Operational capability to work in a startup environment and bias towards action.
• Self-starter with the ability to independently lead and manage projects.
• Proficiency in Excel for processing submissions efficiently.
• Customer service focus with a relationship mindset.
