The Assistant Vice President and Chief of Staff in the Office of Advancement at Georgetown University plays a pivotal role in overseeing the organizational operations, budget planning, and management for the Office of Advancement (OA) and the Office of the Vice President (VP) for Advancement. This position is responsible for making high-level decisions, developing strategies, anticipating problems, and removing barriers to ensure the success of the Office of Advancement in achieving both departmental and university-wide goals. The AVP and Chief of Staff collaborates closely with various university departments, including Finance, Human Resources, and Compliance, to ensure that OA practices align with university policies. In addition to overseeing the execution of the OA staffing plan, the AVP and Chief of Staff is tasked with managing one of the largest budgets at the university, ensuring compliance with financial audit requirements. This role involves direct oversight of 6-8 direct reports and 17 full-time staff members across various functions, including finance, production, and talent management. Key responsibilities include revenue management, oversight of gift administration, and financial management, all while leading and guiding a diverse team to meet the ambitious goals of the current $3 billion campaign and the planning for a future campaign potentially exceeding $4 billion. The AVP and Chief of Staff serves as a senior adviser to the VP for Advancement, collaborating with university leadership to communicate the status of financial investments and provide strategic thought partnership in campaign priorities. This position is integral to the executive leadership team of the Office of Advancement, reporting directly to the Vice President for Advancement and working closely with other senior leaders to ensure the successful execution of the university's advancement strategies.
