About the position

The Assistant Vice President/Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Juniata College is responsible for leading the Information Technology Services (ITS) department, serving as a strategic advisor to college leadership on technology issues. The CIO oversees the implementation of technology systems and infrastructure, aligning initiatives with the college's goals to drive innovation and efficiency. This role involves managing various aspects of IT, including enterprise systems, networking, cybersecurity, and IT policies, while fostering a culture of customer service and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a strategic direction for campus information and technology services.
  • Stay current on industry best practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of ERP and other technology systems to enhance campus services.
  • Manage priorities for the ITS department aligned with student and campus requirements.
  • Oversee recruitment, development, and evaluation of ITS staff.
  • Establish and enforce policies to ensure information security and integrity.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain campus IT infrastructure.
  • Manage the IT budget to optimize resource allocation.
  • Serve as the Institutional information security officer and mitigate IT-related risks.
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Instill a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/information technology or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in information technology and resource management.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in support and service of mission-critical support systems.
  • Experience leading, supervising, and developing employees.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge in contract review and vendor negotiations.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills across diverse disciplines.
  • Effective fiscal management skills including budgeting and planning.
  • Experience in project management, innovation, and change management.
  • Advanced knowledge of IT hardware, software, networks, and system design.
