About the position

The AVP Creative Direction - Retail position at AT&T is a pivotal role that provides Retail Marketing expertise in creative direction, managing creative resources and processes to ensure consistency across all consumer touchpoints. This position is responsible for developing innovative creative approaches that align with consumer shopping behaviors, the AT&T brand identity, value propositions, and design principles. The successful candidate will balance creative excellence and brand standards with the needs of business owners and communication objectives, ensuring that all marketing efforts are effective and resonate with consumers. In this role, the AVP will be recognized as a thought leader in retail creative and consumer behavior, with a reputation that extends beyond AT&T. The individual will demonstrate a deep understanding of the marketplace, including new developments in retail, and possess the ability to predict consumer and technology-related trends that shape the retail environment and influence shopping preferences. The AVP will work collaboratively with various levels of leadership within the company, including top officers and senior management, to educate and energize the organization about the strategic direction of Retail Marketing. The position requires the ability to independently manage multiple projects and lead a team effectively. The AVP will actively contribute to AT&T's processes, roles, and resources related to retail creative design and customer experience. A strong emphasis is placed on data-driven insights to influence merchandising strategies, and the ideal candidate will have a persistent drive to achieve goals while embracing healthy debate and feedback. This role is not for those who shy away from consumer insights or who do not find creative work emotionally engaging.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Retail Marketing expertise in creative direction and manage creative resources and processes.
  • Develop creative approaches in accordance with consumer shopping behaviors and AT&T brand identity.
  • Balance creative excellence with business needs and communication objectives.
  • Understand and interpret customer data and shopping behaviors to improve the retail creative experience.
  • Act as a thought leader in retail creative and consumer behavior, recognized beyond AT&T.
  • Predict consumer and technology-related trends that shape the retail environment.
  • Educate and collaborate with multiple levels of leadership about the direction of Retail Marketing.
  • Independently manage multiple projects and lead a team effectively.
  • Contribute to AT&T processes related to retail creative design and customer experience.

Requirements

  • Master-level experience in retail creative and customer experience design (10+ years).
  • 5+ years of management experience in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of managing projects and teams independently.
  • Preferred Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Design, Art, Interactive Design, Retail Merchandising, or a related digital media discipline.
  • An advanced degree is preferred.
