About the position

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Development for the Professional Products Division at L'Oréal is responsible for leading and managing the development business for the PPD US. This role involves overseeing operational activities and projects for multiple brands, ensuring timely and cost-effective product launches, and driving innovation and sustainability initiatives. The AVP will manage a team of both direct and indirect reports, develop strategies for package development, and optimize processes to enhance profitability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, animate and manage the PPD US Development business.
  • Accountable for operational activities and projects associated with seven PPD DMI Brands.
  • Manage a team of 4 direct reports and 15 indirect reports.
  • Direct strategy and execution for package development and project management activities.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective new product launches and promotional programs.
  • Identify new and improved processes for cost reduction and harmonization programs.
  • Develop, challenge, inspire, and motivate the team.
  • Responsible for operating budget management.
  • Manage new product launch timelines and execution.
  • Anticipate, assess, and manage risks related to safety, timing, quality, agility, and cost.
  • Drive profitability, cost control, and financial management.
  • Guide marketing in new product brief creation and support cost reduction for operations teams.
  • Manage specific launch projects as necessary.
  • Drive formula optimization and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage manufacturing footprint expansion across multiple zones for two US Led DMI Brands.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in package development project work, preferably in cosmetics or consumer goods.
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Excellent team leadership skills with the ability to lead and develop a team of professionals.
  • Ability to formulate, articulate, and implement a vision to motivate team members.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to influence senior management and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking with creativity and the ability to think outside the box.
