About the position

The Assistant Vice President of Business Operations at the University of Houston is responsible for providing professional leadership and management for financial issues within the University Information Technology (UIT) business services. This role oversees various functions including administration, fiscal management, contract administration, and project portfolio management, ensuring effective service delivery and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Apply principles of accounting to compile and analyze financial data for planning, forecasting, and managing budgets.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports, and account reconciliations.
  • Direct the coordination of the UIT Business team to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Analyze UIT financial statements and cost controls to guide business leaders.
  • Oversee the UIT purchasing function ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Manage departmental policies, procedures, and initiatives to optimize resources.
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, supervision, and evaluation of staff.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare schedules, and expedite workflow.
  • Monitor project delivery commitments and performance against measures.
  • Develop and implement a customer-centered architecture for UIT processes.
  • Lead financial benchmarking and establish KPIs and dashboards for UIT performance.
  • Maintain and review the KPI collection and reporting process for UIT.
  • Serve as a liaison with executives regarding fiscal and operational issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with critical UIT vendors.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization related to the work.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
