About the position

The Assistant Vice President of Finance & Business Operations at Hunter College is responsible for overseeing the College's financial management and administrative functions. This role involves managing the non-tax levy budget, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing accurate financial analyses and reports. The position requires collaboration with various departments and oversight of multiple financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, and purchasing.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, developing, organizing and evaluating the College's administrative and support functions.
  • Oversight and management of the non-tax levy budget, ensuring appropriate fund direction and budget reconciliation.
  • Responsible for reporting requirements to oversight entities and compliance with State and Federal laws.
  • Accountability for maintaining and implementing internal financial controls.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting in partnership with the Vice President and establish systems to support program operations.
  • Respond to audit requests from oversight entities.
  • Oversee the College's Budget Office, Purchasing, Contracting, Accounts Payable Operations, and Bursar.
  • Serve as Liaison to internal and external auditors and coordinate audit responses.
  • Oversee the College's Accounting department and Office Services at three campus locations.
  • Monitor Hunter's funds in the CUNY Investment Pool.
  • Provide timely and accurate analyses of budgets and project proposals.
  • Oversee the development of the College's $200 million operating budget and financial plan.
  • Analyze financial data and present financial reports for various funding streams.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Eight years of related experience.
