About the position

The Assistant Vice President for Marketing & Communications is a senior leadership role responsible for enhancing the Lourdes University brand through strategic marketing and communication initiatives. This position involves collaboration with various campus partners to develop and implement effective marketing strategies, manage communications, and support recruitment and fundraising efforts. The AVP will oversee the Marketing & Communications team, manage budgets, and ensure the delivery of high-quality content across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and hands-on support in creative marketing, branding, communications, media relations, and public relations.
  • Advance the mission, vision, and identity of the University by enhancing its reputation and attracting resources.
  • Offer strategic communications and marketing advice to the President and Vice Presidents to strengthen the Lourdes brand.
  • Assist the Vice President for Enrollment Management with recruitment messaging and marketing initiatives.
  • Support the President with marketing and communications initiatives, including media contacts and campus-wide messages.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement on fundraising initiatives and campaigns.
  • Develop and manage Integrated Marketing Plans for Enrollment and specific campaigns, including performance indicators and analytics.
  • Lead the Marketing & Communications Team in executing media relations strategies and producing digital and print materials.
  • Manage and implement the crisis communication plan.
  • Establish and strengthen relationships with external advertising and marketing organizations.
  • Craft and manage internal and external marketing and advertising initiatives.
  • Provide script review and support for select events.
  • Manage the Marketing & Communications budget.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and ensure continuity of official messaging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in marketing or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Efficient in managing budgets.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic communications plans.
  • Proven track record of generating ideas and creating compelling narratives to advance brands.
  • Excellent writing, public speaking, and editing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with media relations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with creative design and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Cultural competency and ability to work with a diverse workforce.
